Builds multiplex homes in East Vancouver. Two projects are finished and open to walk through; a third is under way next door.
Costar Construction is a Vancouver builder of multiplex homes. Its It Takes Two project won the 2024 Georgie Award for Best Multiplex Home, per the Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC winners list, and the firm is listed in the Homebuilders Association Vancouver member directory. On MultiLiving it built Quintet, five townhomes at 2240 E 40th Ave, and WeKillarney, six townhomes at 2333 E 54th Ave, and City of Vancouver records name it as the contractor for a second six-home project at 2331 E 54th Ave. Louis Nguyen is president. By its own account the firm also builds custom homes, renovations and commercial interiors across Metro Vancouver.

Built by Costar for THT Properties Ltd., the developer named in the disclosure statement dated May 7, 2025. The show home is furnished and open; move-in is expected in November 2026.

The Globe and Mail reported in July 2025 that Louis Nguyen partnered with Laidler Capital on the project and planned to sell at a price that moved quickly.

See the homesThe Georgie Awards are run by the Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC and judged each spring. The 2024 winners release lists Best Multiplex Home as It Takes Two, by Costar Construction Inc with Design Work Group Ltd as the associate company. We read the release itself.
Two things a buyer should know about that line. The award was for It Takes Two, a project the release does not describe further, and neither Quintet nor WeKillarney was the winning home. And the 2025 winners list does not include Costar. An award tells you a jury liked one home in one year. It is a good sign, and it is one sign.
Louis Nguyen is the president and Tuan Nguyen a director, according to the Better Business Bureau profile; the HAVAN directory lists Tuan Nguyen as marketing and development manager. When the Globe and Mail's Kerry Gold wrote about small Vancouver builders in July 2025, Louis Nguyen told her he wanted to build and live in a multiplex of his own one day, and put it this way: "The generational multiplex would be, I believe, the next Vancouver Special."
That is the whole pitch of the two projects on this page. The Vancouver Special was the plain, roomy house that let one family live upstairs and another downstairs across the East Side for forty years. Quintet and WeKillarney are that idea in a new building: a suite with its own door on the lower floor, a family home above it.
The Better Business Bureau shows the business starting on December 3, 2019, with an A+ rating, no BBB accreditation, and zero complaints closed in the last three years as of September 16, 2026. The firm's own website says it also builds custom homes, renovations and commercial interiors; those are its words, and we have not checked that part of its work.
Reading the Quintet and WeKillarney feature sheets side by side, the same choices show up twice. Both are the developer's own lists, so treat them as what the developer promised, and then go and look.
The design differs between the two. Quintet's interiors are by West One Design in a Japanese and Scandinavian style, with a peninsula kitchen and wool carpet upstairs. WeKillarney has an island kitchen and a linear electric fireplace. If you want to know how a Costar home feels to live in, the show home at Quintet is the place to find out.
